Company Philosophy

The Garden Consultants was formed on the foundation of a belief that everyone deserves to have a great garden. Lack of time or money should not be a barrier to achieving the outdoor space you want. Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or are happy to let someone else do the heavy lifting, getting some professional advice can save time and money.

Most people are comfortable relying on consultants in their professional lives; we extend that relationship into the garden. As with other professional service consultants we aim to provide a level of service our clients can depend on. Building a partnership that enables you access a premium garden and landscape advice service when you need it, at any point in your landscape project.

Client satisfaction is important in any industry, perhaps even more so when it comes to designing and building someone’s garden. Building or renovating a garden can be a really big decision involving time, money and even emotional commitment. Getting it right can be tough, and as garden consultants we are there to help. We will step you through the process, demystifying the jargon and making sure you know what you’re getting.

We see our clients as a diverse bunch, all with differing needs and desires for their outdoor spaces.  We also think that that’s great. Getting to know our clients unique personalities and ideas is a key element of our design process. Once we know you, we can we can tailor our skill and knowledge to provide you with an individual garden space. It’s your garden so we are happy to involve you in as much of the process as you like.

At the Garden Consultants we believe that we all have a role to play in working with the wider environment. Designing and working with natural systems in mind can save you money, improve your garden and help the surrounding natural ecology. Wherever we can, we encourage the use of sustainable materials and elements within a garden.

Through this philosophy we have developed our five core beliefs:

  • Everyone deserves to have a great garden.
  • Everyone should have access to quality design advice
  • The best gardens are clear extension their owners unique personality and lifestyle
  • Fantastic service and individual attention are key to successful projects
  • Gardens are a connection to the broader environment

These beliefs are central to the way we conduct business at the Garden Consultants.

Elliot Summers – Northern Suburbs Melbourne

Master of Landscape Architecture
Bachelor of Arts

elliot_headshotCompleting a post-graduate qualification in Landscape architecture provided Elliot the opportunity to turn a passion into an occupation, having left a number of informal garden designs in various rental properties around Northcote and Heidelberg in Melbourne’s North.

Alongside design work Elliot also tutors various landscape architecture subjects at the University of Melbourne and RMIT, where understanding theories, process and individual design techniques meet the critical importance of being able to communicate often complex ideas in an easily accessible way.

Elliot is now funnelling all this experience and knowledge into designing personal garden spaces through Garden Consultants, most recently based in the Eltham area. When not plotting outdoor spaces Elliot spends his spare time with his three kids, his dog, making short films, writing novels, solving complex particle equations and occasionally sleeping.
